The young lady in this photo had already fallen three times before she reached me and fell again about five steps past me. I have never seen a more terrified girl on the runway - it was very difficult to watch. Finally she took the shoes off and walked in bare feet the rest of the way. A lot of people had thought that the reason the girls kept falling was because the heels were too high. Actually, it was the little cotton socks that were inside the shoes. The girls couldn't keep their heels in the shoes correctly. If you think Lara Stone looks stern in her everyday life, she looked five times more serious trying to make it around the maze/catwalk in those shoes. Did Miuccia ever explain her side of why the girls kept slipping' Maybe the samples were late and they were not able to check them correctly' ![]() by The Sartorialist 19 Nov 2008 at 4:10pm ![]() by The Sartorialist 19 Nov 2008 at 4:09pm ![]() by The Sartorialist 19 Nov 2008 at 8:44am I was chit-chatting with Susan after I took this picture and mentioned that I thought her hair was sooo beautiful - her best feature. She said thanks and added that she had lost her hair once because of cancer. She now purposely keeps it long because she feels it is such a gift to have it back and, for her, a sign of life. ![]() by The Sartorialist 19 Nov 2008 at 8:26am It seems the Italians are dying to find new Agnelli-isms. Apparently leaving the strap of your monkstrap shoes undone is all the rage. Usually I only see it done with double monkstraps, but this brave Italian was throwing caution (and safety) to the wind and had the straps on both shoes undone. I'm not condoning, just reporting. ![]() by The Sartorialist 19 Nov 2008 at 6:54am I love that Carine is always happy to stop and talk or have her picture taken with her fans. Carine shows a genuine interest - Carine asked this young lady where she was from. The girl walked away just beaming. ![]() by The Sartorialist 18 Nov 2008 at 8:43am ![]() by The Sartorialist 18 Nov 2008 at 8:18am ![]() by The Sartorialist 18 Nov 2008 at 8:03am ![]() by The Sartorialist 17 Nov 2008 at 8:47am ![]() by The Sartorialist 17 Nov 2008 at 8:44am ![]() by The Sartorialist 17 Nov 2008 at 8:41am ![]() by The Sartorialist 17 Nov 2008 at 8:31am ![]() by The Sartorialist 14 Nov 2008 at 9:21am ![]() by The Sartorialist 14 Nov 2008 at 8:43am ![]() by The Sartorialist 14 Nov 2008 at 7:45am CasaSugar -- Home sweet home. by casasugar 22 Nov 2008 at 12:30pm When it comes to what's in the oven on Thanksgiving day, most of us will be keeping our hands busy, be it with a 25-pound bird or an easy green bean casserole. But that do-it-yourself attitude needn't only to apply to the eats: there are other things on the table that could use some of that same homemade finesse. To learn some ways you can DIY your Thanksgiving décor this year, check out this slideshow!

Stylehive Blog by marycaitlin@stylehive.com (Caitlin McNulty) 22 Nov 2008 at 12:25pm The popular look of menswear-inspired apparel for women dominated this season's collections with pantsuits, trousers, and double-breasted blazers and don't think it's over yet--you'll be seeing this androgynous look well into Spring too. At the Fifth Anniversary of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, models Chanel Iman and Agyness Deyn both sported menswear-inspired looks with tailored pantsuits paired with feminine accessories. Chanel showed her support for Obedient Sons And Daughters in a grey suit from their Fall 2008 collection paired with a black fur stole and suede pumps, while Agyness Deyn rocked a sleek black tuxedo suit with killer red Alejandro Ingelmo heels. We already know Alexander Wang won this year's CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award, but who's the victor in this style showdown' Vote now! ![]() by lisannebee@stylehive.com (Lisanne Silverman) 22 Nov 2008 at 8:15am Holidays, handbags, and...hair' Oh my! Stylebakery shows you how to style a pencil skirt for all of those holiday parties, BagSnob is torn over Carlos Falchi's python 'Buffalo' handbag, and Shopping and Info wants to know what you thought of Madonna's, um, hairy green top. Need a gift for your friends around the office' Stiletto Jungle found just the thing! Curious about those wacky weight loss procedures' Beauty Snob's Heidi talks about her experience. Itching to get your hands on those two-tone Chanel tights, but don't have $250 to put toward the cause' Urban Outfitters has a pair so spot-on, you won't even notice the missing interlocking C's. Check out what's happening this week in the fabulous world of the fashion blog-o-sphere! by DinoRay@stylehive.com (Dino-Ray Ramos) 21 Nov 2008 at 8:19am Twilight fans are in a rabid frenzy this week because the movie based on Stephenie Meyer's four book series about a ho-hum accident-prone girl (Into the Wild's Kristen Stewart) who falls in love with a vampire (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire's Robert Pattinson - if you haven't heard of him, you will be seeing him on magazine covers soon) is out in theaters today! Together they build a codependent relationship of teenage angst and emo-immortality. As said, the fans of this series are rabid. Case in point: look up the small riot that erupted when Pattinson made an appearance at a Hot Topic in San Francisco. The store that made goth and punk household names is the source for all Twilight fanatics. From "Team Edward" and "Team Jacob" shirts (this makes more sense if you read the books) to pins and key chains of your favorite characters, the store has all you need to look like an obsessive fan - and there is no shame in that. I am wearing my Twilight hoodie right now.
by kristintheory@stylehive.com (Kristin Colsky) 21 Nov 2008 at 6:17am What better way to enjoy the cold and make a fool of yourself than to grab your silliest friends and go ice skating'! And just so you don't have to think about anything else besides having fun, here are some wardrobe must-haves for your next winter jaunt to the rink (or pond). First of all, don't wear jeans. If you fall, they'll just get heavy, wet, and uncomfortable. Instead, throw on this pair of slim black pants with stretch by J.Crew. On top, layers are key. Grab something like this lightweight turtleneck by James Perse, and bring a hoodie, a fleece, or a jacket like this parka from Adidas by Stella McCartney. Since most ice skates have little padding, don't forget some heavy socks - check out these "fleece welly" socks by the maker of the original rain boots, Hunter. Gloves are also not a bad idea if you plan on falling a lot - i.e. making the most of your experience! Try on these candy-colored J.Crew colorblock gloves in a wool/cashmere blend. Now I can't wait to get out there! Don't miss the SLIDESHOW of these great ice skating fashion finds!

by KNplaid@stylehive.com (kate napleton) 21 Nov 2008 at 10:21am The worst part about cold weather (aside from having to push our spring stuff to the back of the closet) is our suddenly cold, chapped hands. Keep warm and give your fingers a rest in some cute mittens this winter! Though not as practical as their rival, gloves, mittens offer the same warmth and cuteness that gloves simply cannot touch. And with plenty of options, from warm Ugg Shearling Mittens ($120) to super-cute knit heart convertible mittens from BP Nordstrom ($8), there are plenty of options for every kind of look, whether you need them for everyday use or a fabulous ski vacation in Lake Tahoe! Check out our SLIDESHOW for some toasty mitten options!
by ZUBURBIA@stylehive.com (Mary Kincaid) 21 Nov 2008 at 8:19am Little girls might have plastic bracelets in their jewelry boxes, but we big girls aren't content with just any ol' plastic. No, we want the real deal and that means vintage Bakelite. Bakelite, like many scientific finds, was discovered by accident in 1907 and it soon became known as "the material of a thousand uses." It wasn't long, however, before designers discovered that this fire-resistant plastic, originally created for industrial purposes, was also perfect for bracelets, necklaces, earrings and pins. These stunning items are now highly collectible and can be quite addictive. But a word of warning: some of them carry very big girl price tags. Just click the SLIDESHOW to see the selection.
