Perfect Timing Photos. This is the work of French photographer D Darzacq, in this series which was created at Hypermarkets (French equivalent to our supermarkets), he uses straight photography and looks into the idea of the body in levitation. Though its hard to believe these are real, but they are and most important thing which would play an important role would be the perfect timing. Beautiful!

Artistic Trees.

Artistic Trees.Yuken Teruya uses everyday objects and transforms them and their meanings to reflect on the contemporary lifestyle. It can be pizza boxes, bags, desserts, flags or toilet paper rolls; when they come into his hand they turn out to be intricate art works meticulously created. In each bag or roll, the shape of a tree is created without adding or removing anything; each tree stands in the same bag that it came from. When you see it under the natural light, the delicate tree shows inside a paper bag. The work is simply beautiful!

Tape Sunglasses.
21 Nov 2008 at 10:07am

Tape Sunglasses. An interesting concept and creation by azumianddavid (A'N'D), the glasses-tape or tape sunglasses is the one which really surprised us the most. Since they started to work together in 1995, they had progressed through a variety of creative projects, though initially it was limited edition artist's books and performance art, and later they moved gradually on to fashion and accessories associated 'things to wear'. Their 'things to wear' could be found around the world in over 40 stores, in various cities.
About the artists: They both studied fashion in London, but it was in May 1995 that they met at The Troubadour Coffee House, in London and were married in March 2000. And there is yet another interesting detail which we would like to say here: They celebrate birthdays on the 8th and 10th April, designating April 9th as A'N'D day. Artistic :)

Swing Bag.
20 Nov 2008 at 9:29am

Swing Bag.Here we have Swing Bag by designer Caroline Woolard. It's a 2 in 1 swing and a functional bag. Its an interesting concept which we are sure was created by keeping in view the people who would like to enjoy their commute on the train. Using 1000 mesh "L-train grey" cordura, sliders, and Velcro; it was constructed using industrial sewing machines. The bag transforms from a backpack, handbag, or book bag of 11×4×12 to a swing of 11×24×2 with an adjustable (25" to 50") strap on either side that fastens around the handrail of the subway. The designer accepts commissions for bags, but if you are interested to create one for yourself then you can also make your own swing with a gym bag, three belts connected together, or a normal swing.

It definitely helps in preventing unplugging the fridge instead of the toaster or the computer instead of the hair dryer. Sky Planter.
19 Nov 2008 at 11:20am

Sky Planter.Boskke - Sky Planter allows you to grow plants upside down inside your room and it comes from New Zealand. Some may not like the idea, but the system nonetheless is decorative, practical and original! It conserves water, uses up to 80% less water than conventional planters. And also it saves space and time too; all you need to do is to water your plants once a month. A plant that is upside down is sure to fascinate the attention of your guests and you don't need to worry about it as its secured. And the best thing is it requires less attention than the traditional pots as the water doesn't evaporate, its internal storage system provides water directly to the roots. It also saves floor space, and is a practical solution for modern living areas with little space.

Virtual Lamp.Designer Anderson Horta takes us away from our regular thinking or from what comes to the mind the moment someone refers to light or think of light; one thinks how it gives us light, how it looks and the different shapes and sizes. He shows us his unique idea of a light, though the light is a little different from the normal light which we see, but the functionality is the same - it gives us what's needed most at night, a source of light. The Virtual Lamp is simplistic and modern in its design, and the light would look beautiful in any room.

Probably my favorite Emmylou song -- though it's hard to choose out of so much greatness. It finished just a little ahead of "If I Needed You," but there's no good live version of that available.

This is from her appearance at the Grand Ole Opry in 1992 with her all-star band, the Nash Ramblers (featuring the amazing Sam Bush on mandolin). There's another live version of this with the Hot Band that actually sounds a little better audio-wise, but which isn't embeddable.

Dick Morris Openly Fund Raises for Saxby Chambliss on Hannity and Colmes

From Hannity and Colmes Nov. 21, 2008, Dick Morris changes the topic while being interviewed to openly make a fund raising pitch for Saxby Chambliss.

All of this is relevant only if he can do anything he wants and I know you're going to touch on Minnesota later here in this program. We can't do anything about Minnesota but Saxby Chambliss is only four points ahead in Georgia. If we lose Georgia the Republican party has zilch influence because the Democrats are going to get sixty votes. And that's why I'm urging people who care about that to go to and independent expenditure, GOPTrust.com, GOPTrust.com and fund the effort to reelect Saxby Chambliss because if we lose that seat and we lose sixty votes, forget about it.

John Amato:

He's a complete laughing stock after Obama's win, but he's FOX's go to guy. On Thursday night before the general election he predicted that the new Rev. Wright attack ads that played for three straight days were going to win the election for John McCain. How did that work for you, Dick' Now he's shilling for Saxby. Way to go.

Bob Jones University apologizes for being racists
22 Nov 2008 at 2:31pm

TRMS-Bob-Jones-U-112108

My pal, Rachel Maddow gives us a good overall look at this story as Bob Jones U. finally apologized for being total racists.

Bob Jones University has apologized for racist policies including a one-time ban on interracial dating that wasn't lifted until nine years ago and its unwillingness to admit black students until 1971.

"We failed to accurately represent the Lord and to fulfill the commandment to love others as ourselves. For these failures we are profoundly sorry. Though no known antagonism toward minorities or expressions of racism on a personal level have ever been tolerated on our campus, we allowed institutional policies to remain in place that were racially hurtful," the statement said.

The interracial dating ban was lifted in March 2000, not long after the policy became an issue in the Republican presidential primary that year. Then-candidate George W. Bush was criticized when he spoke at the school during one of his first campaign stops in the state after losing in New Hampshire.

The leader of the South Carolina NAACP said the civil rights group welcomed the statement.

"It's unfortunate it took them this long ' particularly a religious, faith-based institution ' to realize that we all are human beings and the rights of all people should be respected and honored," said Lonnie Randolph, president of the state chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Hate crimes and illegal immigration: O'Reilly reverses the reality
22 Nov 2008 at 1:00pm

O'Reilly-Hate Crimes
icon Download |    icon Download |

Earlier this week on The O'Reilly Factor, the Papa Bear did what right-wingers constantly do when discussing hate crimes: he conflated them with ordinary crimes in a way that deliberately confuses the public regarding the nature of these crimes.

As you can see in this clip (or from the transcript), O'Reilly starts out by discussing the horrendous hate crime on Long Island wherein a group of six young white thugs went out looking for Latinos to harm for "sport", and they wound up killing an Ecuadoran immigrant named Marcelo Lucero.

But then he seems to connect this crime to a completely unrelated tragedy involving the deaths of two women at the hands of a drunken driver who happened to be an illegal immigrant.

How are they connected' O'Reilly explains:

So, three human beings are dead because of irresponsible conduct and failed government.

The New York Times and Newsday have covered the Lucero murder extensively, as they should. It is a horrible crime, and seven young men may pay a steep price for being violently stupid.

But the Times and Newsday have pretty much ignored the deaths of the two women. This is a pattern in America.

People killed by illegal aliens can expect little coverage from a media that wants amnesty for foreign nationals here illegally.

But in the end, it is the federal government that is truly responsible for the deaths, and for the entire illegal alien problem. ...

It would be nice to think that O'Reilly simply doesn't comprehend the difference between a hate crime and an ordinary crime. I've explained this many times:

Hate crimes are message crimes: They are intended to harm not just the immediate victim, but all people of that same class within the community. Their message is also irrevocable: they are "get out of town, nigger/Jew/queer" crimes.

That's why bias-crime laws are about imposing stiffer sentences on their perpetrators: they cause more real harm to the community. This principle -- greater harm brings stiffer punishment -- is a basic element of criminal law.

Think, if you will, about the different effects of these two tragedies. In the Lucero case, the fully intended terroristic effects are clear: the Latino community on Long Island naturally feels vulnerable and fearful, and relations with the white community have been permanently stained. In the case of the drunken driver, the community is bound to feel somewhat more vulnerable to the effects of drunken drivers, but it doesn't require one to be an illegal immigrant to be one of those.

Indeed, as with most crimes, the rate for such crimes is actually lower within the immigrant community than with the public at large. There is in fact no correlation at all between immigration and crime.

Which is why when people like Bill O'Reilly and Lou Dobbs constantly harangue their audiences with morbid tales of incidents involving Latinos who commit crimes or are responsible for tragedies, it not only distorts the reality regarding immigrants and crime, but it profoundly demonizes immigrants by linking them with criminality.

In turn, it is this very demonization, particularly in the mainstream media, that actually leads to more hate crimes.

So in effect what O'Reilly is doing is encouraging more hate crimes by suggesting that illegal immigration was the cause of those two women's deaths.

And at the same time, in a twist of logic one can only call bizarre, O'Reilly's inherent thesis is that somehow the federal government's failures on illegal immigration are responsible somehow for the death of Marcelo Lucero as well.

How so' Did that pack of white thugs go out looking for Latinos to beat up because of the failures of the federal government' That seems to be O'Reilly's logic here. Isn't that blaming the victims' And doesn't O'Reilly preach "individual responsibility" for minorities who commit crimes'

O'Reilly finishes up his tirade by demanding that Barack Obama adopt a "zero tolerance policy" towards illegal immigrants.

Better the rest of us develop a "zero tolerance policy" for Bill O'Reilly's hatemongering.

Beware Luce Women
22 Nov 2008 at 11:30am

luce women_19382.jpg
There is a famous sign from the French Quarter that immediately comes to mind when viewing the ad for the Clare Booth Luce Policy Institute's new "Conservative Babe" calendar:

Following in the tradition of past calendars from the Luce Policy Institute, Pretty in Mink celebrates smart, conservative women role models ... with flair.

We took some of your favorite leaders of today's conservative movement on a journey back in time, and made them up into glamorous movie stars of classic Hollywood. Back when the big screen was a little more glamorous, women were a little more feminine, the men a little more charming'and the world a little less politically correct. We've saved Clare Boothe Luce herself for the last month of the year; we think you'll agree that the legacy of this conservative icon makes her an appropriate ending for our calendar. And every single one of the other beautiful women featured in Pretty in Mink is one hundred percent a 'Luce Lady.'

I just threw up in my mouth a little. Wanna get a glimpse of those glamour girls'

CBL_calendar_0707d.jpg

Notice anyone missing' Rich Lowry is going to be so disappointed.

The calendar was sponsored in part by Miller's Furs, who supplied furs for most of the cover girls. That is except for Miss December, the eponymous Clare Booth Luce and Miss September Ann Coulter, who happily supplied her own mink coat. There's a joke there, but I'm not taking it.

It's official: 'center-right nation' is now right-wingers' favorite meme
22 Nov 2008 at 8:45am

Center-right nation_d9685.JPG

If anyone were betting on it, I would happily wager that the right-wing talking point that "this is still a center-right nation" was being ginned up and distributed to every conservative talking head on the planet within 24 hours of Barack Obama's election victory, if not before.

I mean, it's coming out of the mouths of nearly every single right-wing pundit who's managed airtime since Nov. 5. It started the next day, and has only gained volume since.

And of course, it's so risibly false that it really tells us much more about conservatives and their grip on reality than anything else.

David Sirota has the goods on just how prominent the theme has become since the election:

As the graph shows, the use of the exact term "center-right nation" spiked immediately after election day (point "0" is the day my column published, point "1" is election day).

While it's true - this trend study doesn't tell us how many of the "center-right nation" references are saying this is "not a center-right nation." But a look through Lexis-Nexis shows it's safe to assume that the vast majority of these references are asserting this is a "center-right nation."

So we're not talking about theory anymore - we're talking about empirical fact. The media has exponentially increased the amount of times it claims that this country is a "center-right nation" - at the very same time public opinion data shows the country is a decidedly center-left nation. In short, we have the two hard data points proving that as the country has become more progressive and validated its progressivism on election day, the media has increased its claims that the nation is conservative.

Of course, this is just the latest wingnut meme. It tells us, though, that the Republicans' longtime operating motto -- "If you can't beat 'em with brains, baffle 'em with bulls--t" -- is very much still with us.
