Jamal Crawford and Gerald Wallace did their best to carry the Portland Trail Blazers at home on Wednesday night, but it just wasn't enough to overcome the ineffectiveness of an ailing LaMarcus Aldridge. I know I've been on about this for a while now, but Wednesday's...

The Trail Blazers were a good team for about 12 minutes of their 103-96 loss to Houston Wednesday night at the Rose Garden.

That came from midway through the third quarter?when Portland trailed 69-50?to midway through the final period, when the Blazers had erased the deficit and tied the score at 82-82.

The Blazers (14-11) played with a purpose over that stretch that frustrates coach Nate McMillan, who wants that kind of performance on a more regular basis.

"Part of the challenge (as coach) is to figure out the right combinations of players, motivating these guys, getting them to play both ways," McMillan said. "We play in spurts."

Portland is 11-3 at home despite losing its last two.

Houston's bench was doing so well that it allowed coach Kevin McHale the luxury of resting his starters on the front end of a back-to-back. Chase Budinger led the way with a season-best 22 points for the Rockets in a 103-96 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night. Courtney Lee added 16 as the Houston reserves accounted for 66 points.

Tony Parker scored 37 points, Gary Neal added 18 off the bench and the San Antonio Spurs beat the Philadelphia 76ers 100-90 in a matchup of division leaders Wednesday night.

Maybe that's just how the ball bounces sometimes, but this was the second straight game for the Portland Trail Blazers were rebounds in the fourth quarter could have led to a win. Instead, the Houston Rockets kept getting the loose balls and long offensive rebounds in the...

The Portland Trail Blazers host the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night (Feb. 8) in the first game since the debacle against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Feb. 6. I wrote about how the NBA admitted that an official blew that game for the Blazers, calling goaltending on a play that...

The NBA weighed in on the botched call during the Portland Trail Blazers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder game on Monday night (Feb. 6). The league admitted that the goaltending call made against LaMarcus Aldridge with just over six second left in the game was wrong.

7 Feb 2012 at 4:28pm
The NBA said a goaltending call in the final seconds of regulation in the Portland Trail Blazers' overtime loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night was incorrect. Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge was called for goaltending on Kevin Durant's attempted layup with six seconds left. The call tied the game at 103 and it went to overtime.

Forgive Portland Trail Blazers fans if they're a little on edge. On Monday night, they played a terrifically close game against the West-leading Oklahoma City Thunder, the sort of contest that comes down to a few plays in either direction ? Continue reading ?

A controversial call with six seconds left in regulation has left the Portland Trail Blazers fuming at game officials. In the 111-107 overtime victory by the Oklahoma City Thunder Feb. 6, a goaltending call went against the Blazers and tied the score at 103.

7 Feb 2012 at 6:32am
The Portland Trail Blazers can squawk about a goaltending call all they want to. The Oklahoma City Thunder earned their gritty win in the Great Northwest with a 111-107 overtime victory Feb. 6. Kevin Durant scored 33 points, none more important than the final two points of regulation...

A satisfying victory for Oklahoma City was a head-scratcher for Portland. Kevin Durant had 33 points, including a dunk with 2.9 seconds left in overtime, and the Thunder defeated the Trail Blazers 111-107 on Monday night. But the focus of the game fell on a goaltending call on Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge with 6 seconds left in regulation that tied the game at 103 and would send it into...

The Portland Trail Blazers get a huge test by hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night (Feb. 6). Maybe it's not so much of a test as it is to see if the Blazers are still the better team this year. The Blazers already went out on the road and took it to Oklahoma City on...

Nicolas Batum is starting to put up some pretty spectacular numbers for the Portland Trail Blazers. Many fantasy basketball owners have already started taking notice of his big game recently, but those who haven't may need to start watching Batum a little more closely.

Nicolas Batum woke up hoping his injured knee would allow him to play. As it happened, he set a Trail Blazers record with nine 3-pointers and scored a career-high 33 points to help Portland beat the Denver Nuggets 117-97 Saturday night. LaMarcus Aldridge is direct: He really wants to be an All-Star and he feels he's played well enough to deserve it. But in the same breath, the Trail Blazers' forward says what's ultimately more important is his team's success as a whole. Aldridge's conflict -- striking the delicate balance between humility and bravado -- shows how he's matured since he arrived in Portland...

The Trail Blazers say center Greg Oden underwent an arthroscopic procedure Friday to "remove debris" from his right knee, his fourth surgery since Portland selected him with the No. 1 pick in the 2007 draft. The often-injured 7-footer had microfracture surgery on the same knee before the start of his rookie season, forcing him to postpone his NBA debut for a year.
