Kings Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
23 Nov 2008 at 2:38am

Reggie Theus was right.

After the Kings' coach watched his team upset New Orleans on Wednesday, he predicted what was to come. He said to expect inconsistencies, that a team with this mixture of youthful talent is bound to struggle with stability.

It happened again on Friday night, when the team that had fallen to Memphis before downing the Hornets was routed 117-96 by Portland. Donte' Greene was a perfect example of the trend, as the rookie small forward was unable to muster a repeat performance in his second career start as he had in the first.

After scoring 15 points and hitting three of four three-pointers while starting against New Orleans because of an ankle injury to forward Mikki Moore, Greene had just eight points and missed all four of his threes...

Trail Blazers easily beat Kings (AP)
22 Nov 2008 at 1:25am

Sacramento Kings center Brad Miller leans against the basket support after letting the ball go out of bounds during the third quarter of the Kings 117-96 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers in an NBA basketball game in Sacramento, Calif., Friday, Nov. 21, 2008.

The Portland Trail Blazers gave themselves plenty of rest in the opener of back-to-back games. Steve Blake made six 3-pointers and scored 20 points for the Blazers, who pulled away in the third quarter Friday night for their second straight lopsided victory, 117-96 over the struggling Sacramento Kings.

Salmons leads Kings past Hornets (AP)
19 Nov 2008 at 10:55pm

New Orleans Hornets forward David West (30) shoots over Sacramento Kings center Brad Miller (52) in the second half of their NBA basketball game in New Orleans, Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008. West scored 22-points in the Hornets 105-96 loss to the Kings.

For three quarters, Bobby Jackson did nothing to make the New Orleans Hornets pay for trading him last February. Then he showed them exactly what they were missing in the fourth. John Salmons scored 29 points, and Jackson had all eight of his points in the final 5:10 to help the injury-depleted Sacramento Kings surprise the New Orleans Hornets 105-96 on Wednesday night.

Gay scores 22 as Grizzlies shoot past Kings (AP)
18 Nov 2008 at 11:05pm

Memphis Grizzlies forward Rudy Gay (22) shoots under pressure by Sacramento Kings center John Salmons (15) in the second half of an NBA basketball game Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2007 in Memphis, Tenn.

A three-day layoff was just what the Memphis Grizzlies needed to rejuvenate their struggling offense. Rudy Gay scored 22 points and Memphis shot a season-high 54 percent to help the Grizzlies snap a four-game losing streak with a 109-94 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night. "We had a lot of time to practice, whereas other games we've been on the road or playing back-to-back-to-back,"...

Spurs beat Kings for 2nd straight win (AP)
16 Nov 2008 at 11:44pm

San Antonio Spurs center Tim Duncan, left, drives around Sacramento Kings defender Spencer Hawes, right, for a basket during the first half of an NBA basketball game in Sacramento, Calif., Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008.

Even without Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker, the San Antonio Spurs are still using the same formula to win games. Michael Finley scored 21 points and Tim Duncan had 20, including two key baskets in the final minute, in the Spurs' 90-88 victory over Sacramento on Sunday night. Defense and reliable clutch shooting from Duncan have been a staple for the Spurs over the past 11 years when they have won...

15 Nov 2008 at 1:33am
Often a villain in past years when visiting Arco Arena with the Los Angeles Lakers, aging Shaquille O'Neal played that role once again Friday night for the Phoenix Suns. Looking like the Shaq of old, O'Neal tied a season high with 29 points and had 13 rebounds and six assists to help the short-handed Suns beat the Sacramento Kings 97-95 in overtime.

Kings coach Theus fined $25,000 (PA SportsTicker)

Sacramento Kings coach Reggie Theus was handed a $25,000 fine by the NBA on Thursday for critical comments toward officials.

NBA fines Theus $25,000 for comments about refs (AP)
13 Nov 2008 at 2:34pm
The NBA has fined Sacramento Kings coach Reggie Theus $25,000 for comments he made about the officiating following a loss to Detroit. The league also penalized the Kings $25,000 Thursday for Theus' actions. Theus said it was "ridiculous" that the Pistons took 36 fouls shots to just 17 for the Kings in Detroit's 100-92 victory in Sacramento on Tuesday.

Udrih leads Kings past Clippers (AP)
13 Nov 2008 at 8:33am

Los Angeles Clippers forward Al Thornton, left, shoots around Sacramento Kings center Spencer Hawes during the second half of their NBA Basketball game in Los Angeles, Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008. The Kings won 103-98.

With Kevin Martin sidelined, Beno Udrih knew he had to look to score more than usual. He wound up scoring more than ever in an NBA game. Udrih had a career-high 30 points, five rebounds and seven assists, and the short-handed Sacramento Kings never trailed in beating the Los Angeles Clippers 103-98 on Wednesday night for their first road victory of the season.

Iverson beats Kings for first win with Pistons (AP)
12 Nov 2008 at 12:46am

Detroit Pistons guard Allen Iverson pumps his fists after making two free throws in the closing moments of the Pistons 100-92 win over the Sacramento Kings in NBA basketball in Sacramento, Calif., Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008.

For a veteran like Allen Iverson, a win in November against a lottery team rarely registers as important. After losing his first two games with his new team, that wasn't the case with this victory. Iverson had 30 points, nine assists and provided a spark for Detroit after a slow start, winning his first game since joining the Pistons, 100-92 over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night.

10 Nov 2008 at 8:44pm
Sacramento Kings guard Kevin Martin will miss at least a week after spraining his left ankle in a victory over Golden State on Sunday night. Martin is the NBA's 11th-leading scorer at 22.4 points per game. He had 27 points against the Warriors when he injured his ankle when he fouled on a drive. The Kings said Monday that Martin will be sidelined 7-10 days.

Martin leads Kings to win over Warriors (AP)
9 Nov 2008 at 11:41pm

Sacramento Kings guard Kevin Martin (23) drives past Golden State Warriors defender Brandan Wright (32) for a basket during the second half of an NBA basketball game in Sacramento, Calif., Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008. The Kings won 115-98.

Even though it's far from capacity and the fans far from boisterous, Arco Arena remains a comfortable home for the Sacramento Kings. Coming back from a winless trip to start the season, the Kings used Kevin Martin's 27 points to win their third straight game Sunday night, pulling away in the second half to defeat the struggling Golden State Warriors 115-98.
