DeMarcus Cousins has surged of late, even if old habits remain.
The second-year center from Kentucky is as emotional as he is talented. On Monday in New Orleans, Cousins was hit with a technical foul for complaining about the physical interior play, and he battled foul trouble, but he had a season-high 28 points and 19 rebounds.
He has had 19 rebounds four times this season, second in the NBA to Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard's six.
"That guy DeMarcus, sky is the limit for him, he's so gifted and talented," Kings rookie guard Isaiah Thomas said. "When he plays within himself, no one can touch him."
Cousins said he has tried hard to control his temper, and the technical foul was just his second this season.

Montenegro center Nikola Pekovic is emerging as a force in the middle of a resurgent Minnesota Timberwolves, leading them to a third straight win in the NBA by 86-84 over the Sacramento Kings late Tuesday.
