White Sox outfielder Carlos Quentin showed in his debut on the South Side last season that he can carry a lineup, and he opened eyes across the American League by emerging as a front-runner in the MVP race until a fractured bone in his right wrist sidelined him the final month.
But if there were any lingering concerns that the wrist would be a long-term problem, Quentin dismissed those concerns recently.

The White Sox have reached a tentative agreement with young Cuban star Dayan Viciedo. The 19-year-old infielder/outfielder must pass a physical for the contract to be finalized, according to the player's agent, Jaime Torres. Pima County's supervisors voted 5-0 on Tuesday to allow the Chicago White Sox to end their spring training contract with the county so they can move immediately to the Phoenix suburb of Glendale. The 28-year-old Jimenez posted a 5.63 ERA in 15 appearances for the St. Louis Cardinals last season. Herb Score, the Cleveland Indians pitcher and former broadcaster whose promise on the mound was shattered by a line drive, died Tuesday. He was 75.
