Disorderly conduct charges against Roger Clemens' son and another minor league teammate have been dropped nearly three months after a restaurant disturbance. Salem Commonwealth's Attorney Thomas E. Bowers said in a news release Friday that he dropped the charges against Koby Clemens and Mark Ori. An assault and battery charge against a third player, Jimmy Goethals, is set for a court hearing Dec.
Brian Bogusevic, Tommy Manzella and Drew Sutton were added to the Astros' 40-man roster, protecting the organization from having them taken in next month's Rule 5 draft.
"We had probably eight or nine possibilities to add," Astros general manager Ed Wade said. "We just felt that realistically these three plus (Polin) Trinidad (who was added earlier in the month) made the most sense. You try to insolate yourself from losing players in the Rule 5 draft.
"But at the same time, you have to take into consideration that the player taken in the Rule 5 draft has to stay with the selecting club the entire season. That's part of the thought process. We still have flexibility on the roster to re-sign our own players or to go out and do other things.

The Houston Astros signed pitcher Chia-Jen Lo to a minor league contract on Friday, making the 22-year-old the franchise's first Taiwanese player. The Houston Astros are freezing 2009 ticket prices at 2008 levels. The ticket prices at Minute Maid Park will range from $7 for adults and $1 for children for upper deck tickets in the left and right field corners to $48 per ticket for dugout level seats. Astros owner Drayton McLane said Tuesday the organization made the decision in response to the tough economic climate the nation faces.

The Houston Astros promoted third base coach Ed Romero to bench coach after Jackie Moore was hired by the Texas Rangers. The Astros then hired Dave Clark, the manager of their Triple-A affiliate in Round Rock, to replace Romero. Houston also announced Wednesday that it has retained hitting coach Sean Berry, pitching coach Dewey Robinson, first base coach Jose Cruz and bullpen coach Mark Bailey.
