The Federal Government extended the first time buyers Tax Credit of $8000. Do you know you the definition of "a first time home buyer"?
It is anyone who has not written off mortgage interest in the last 3 yrs on their tax return. The new extension also includes $6500 for some current home owners. All I can say is WOW. Find out the details. Many didn' take advantage of this program the first time because they didn't have a "good" Realtor" working on their behalf. Yes you read that right! California Association of Realtors has a Mortgage Protection Plan for "First time buyers". It pays up to $1500 for 6 months if you involuntarily lose your job. If you qualify it's available to you at no cost.
This is one more reason why you need a good Realtor to assist you in your next home buy. You can only get this Mortgage Protection if you use a Realtor when you make your buy. You don't get it unless you apply for it. You'll only apply for it if you know about it , if your Realtor knows about it, and applys for you.
