2005 Subaru Outback 2.5 XT Limited no accidents one owner clean title in hand.

Car has been maintained by dealer and San Carlos Auto Repair. I have all records.
Timing belt replaced O2 sensors belts hoses battery brake pads and rotors etc. The next things for maintenance might be repacking the wheel bearings and getting tires at some point that's up to you though.

Michelin tires are close to the wear bars but have a few thousand more to go safely. Mechanically the car is very good and many Subarus get 2-300k without much effort.

We bought this van in August 2010 with 120K original miles. The previous owner had only put 10K miles on in 10 years.

30 miles and about 30 minutes into our ownership a coolant hose burst the engine overheated and well you know the rest of the story. . .no more happy van.

But luckily for us the previous owner was sooo great. He ran a mechanic's shop so they rebuilt the engine and replaced the rest of the hoses for us and barely charged us the price of parts. He really felt bad about it though it wasn't his fault it was just an old hose.

After that we drove this van around and across the country like mad. VERY Happy Van! We camped in various National Parks in AR TN NC AL FL NJ MI PA MN ND MT ID WA and CA loved the heck out of it.

But 19K miles later (this past May) the alternator belt broke and due to a prior issue the battery warning light which was ALWAYS on didn't warn us there was something wrong so. . . you know the rest of the story. . . cracked cylindars and more. . . no more happy van...

If you haven't already experienced a no more happy van let us tell you. . . it ain't that fun. And it just didn't make any sense to replace the engine with the very same engine that had already failed us twice.

So. . . we splurged and got our sweet van a heart transplant( 15K). So at 141K miles she got upgraded with a 2.2L Subaru conversion done by The Bus Lab in Berkeley CA.

We can't tell you what a difference it makes!! You can merge in to traffic like a regular car! And we keep waiting to pass some other VW on a mountain pass where we are climbing hills at 55 mph. . . not to show off but just to have someone else to MARVEL at how amazing she is. Very VERY VEEERY Happy Van.

The new engine has a 12 mo/12k mile warranty from The Bus Lab. So there are still 2k miles left on that. We have been VERY happy with their service and they worked hard to get a few post-conversion tweaks addressed in a timely manner according to our schedule.

Since then van has been running great and wonderful speed.

They replaced all the catalytic converter worked on getting all the brakes replaced as well as the master cylinder control arm bushings and a brand new air conditioning system.

As all Westy owners will say as much as these vehicles are wonderful there will always be small things to keep tweaking. Having said that we have put our utmost attention to this van. The only reason we are selling is we are pregnant and trading the van for an apartment in San Diego and need a better commuter.


Here are the details of the van
- Mileage 151K original mileage with about 10k miles since the installation of Subaru Engine (warranty till June 2012)

- New Air Conditioning System
Just replaced the front windshield and seal
Super dark tint on side windows except front. Medium-dark tint on rear window (removable). We can park on a street at night and have the light on inside and as long as the curtains are closed you can't even tell there's a light on from the outside.
- Automatic windows on Vanagons are temperamental and expensive to repair so we replaced the driver and passenger windows with manual cranks.
The Pop Top itself is in great condition but the canvas needs replacing.
There's is a hitch installed though we've never used it.

Here are the things we suggest you fix in order to fully enjoy the capabilities of this van. We are happy to get them taken care of for you if you prefer.


- The water pump for the kitchen does not work (Go Westy refers it to $49)
- Propane tank valve needs replacing (Go Westy $65)
Pop-Top Canvas for sale at GoWesty for $469. Total install is about $600.


Anyhow overall we love this van which we named "Paris". We are asking $30K or OBO for it. You will love it. All the small things which need attention can be rectified and we will be happy to get them taken care of for you if you are really interested.

Hi my name is JAY im selling my 98 forester s 5speed. The chassis has 220k miles but motor and trans have only 120k miles on them. NOT REBUILT just low miles : ) i bought the car with a blown motor and found a totaled forester with only 115k miles on it i bought the motor and trans out of it so i could replace current trans with the lower miles 1. The donor vehicle was wrecked from behind so no issues with motor. The car is very clean just a couple scratches(mostly on back bumper) and dings here and there interior is very clean no rips or stains as you can see in the pics. I also have a couple upgrades lowered on 04 wrx struts( less than 2k miles on them practically brand new!) and tein S-Tech wagon springs rides VERY SMOOTH. Also has a megan short shifter cat-back exhaust with black vibrant style tip HID's sprayed fogs brand new radio maybe more just cant think of it rite now. The only bad is it has a small oil leak from 1 of the valve covers but im going to have that fixed before i sell so not really a bad lol. Also just installed a brand new exedy on friday 2/3/2012. Sad to say but it is officially time for me to part ways with my wrx. It's been a great run. Moved to San Diego and it's just sitting at home. On to the car it is almost completely stock. Mods include a STI exhaust and a front lip w/ splitters and aftermarket HID headlights but still have the stock ones. 8/10 outside and 9/10 inside. Very well maintained. Serviced every 3k miles. I have receipts. Still running strong. No leaks. Upgraded tires so lot of tread left. Automatic transmission.
