I would like to buy a nice wagon or suv this week hopefully. I am very interested in a volvo, audi, volkswagon , bmw or saab mainly. I would also like it to have leather seats. It can be automatic or manual, and can have milage over 150,000 as long as its not burning/ leaking oil and the timing belt and whater pump have been changed. The car needs to be newer then 96 unless its an e30 bmw then I would consider it. I would like to spend under 3 grand depending on what it is, I could also go up to 4 grand but I would prefer not to. Also If interested I have a really nice mountain bike that I could offer with cash. Its a trek fuel ex 8 that retails for 2700. I have my road bike to but I dont know if i could part with it. anyways let me know what you have.

This is a fabulous car. I’ve had two Saab 9000s. My mechanic says it’s the best Saabs ever made. Reliable, roomy and fast. I hate to part with this car, but I’ve just gotten a newer model and I need to consolidate funds.

I bought this from a local Saab dealer who got it as a trade-in at around 45,000 miles. The dealer put in a brand new factory transmission, under warranty. Recent services done: head gasket, many new hoses, rotors turned. Michelin tires still have 10-15,000 miles to go. The car is in excellent condition, in and out. No rust, no scratches or dents on exterior, no cracks or marks inside. Plush seats are still in great shape. I have all service records and the car has been serviced locally. If you change oil regularly and do regular maintenance, this car can easily go another 100,000 miles.

1985 Saab 900S 900 for Sale. Ready to Drive. Nothing needed. (Durham ) $1100

1985 Saab 900S – Clean Title, Inspected, Daily Driver

I’ve decided to sell my 1985 Saab 900S 5-speed hoping to get some motorcycle money. This car is a cult classic (see saabcentral.com). It’s not pretty (to most), it’s not fast (to many), but it’s comfy, unique, fun to drive, and runs great. I bought this car this past winter and have gone through it meticulously to get it into daily driver condition. The list of all that has been done is below, but some of the key repairs and updates are full tune-up (new distributor, rotor, and plugs and all fluids changed), 2 new tires (the other two are in good shape), brand new clarion stereo with MP3/aux jack, new fuel filter, and Yakima roof rack.

Yes, this car has 277,000 miles and a few quirks, but I wouldn’t have done all this work and spent the money if I didn’t think it’d run for another 100,000 miles. The engine starts and idles well. It shifts well and can easily maintain 85mph on the highway.

The Good:

Runs well: Daily driver condition. You’ll find few cars in this price range with nothing to really worry about like this one.
8v 4-cylinder gets good gas mileage: 26hwy, 20city
All legal: clean title, recently passed inspection. All lights, horn, and gauges work.
Many new parts and complete tune-up with meticulous log (see below). Parts are easy to come by and relatively cheap (check out eeuroparts.com).
Brand new stereo
Yakima Roof rack
The interior is in decent shape if you can stand the color (faded red).
Front wheel drive is great in the ice and snow.
No fluid leaks as far as I can tell.

The Bad:

The rear passenger power window doesn’t work. The front passenger power window is slow.
The ignition is broken. The car starts with a flip of a switch and push-button (this might fall under “the good” for some).
The power locks no longer work. I cut out some bad wiring to avoid a short.
The roof and trunk paint are faded. I was considering painting the roof black but never got around to it. There are also a few dings here and there, but otherwise the body is pretty good (very minimal rust).
One of the rear speakers doesn’t work.
The front brakes will squeak a little if the car sits for a while. I checked the pads and they looked good, but new ones can be had for about $15.
The dash is cracked in several places (very typical of these Saabs).
After a heavy rain, a very little bit of water sometimes ends up on the driver’s floor board or in the trunk. Not really an issue. It dries quickly.
There is no headliner. It was completely deteriorated so I removed it. In my opinion the inside of the roof looks pretty cool.
It has a few rattles and squeaks that I’ve not yet addressed. I think they are from the sunroof.
The windshield wipers work, but don’t wipe very quickly. I assume the motor needs replaced eventually, but it hasn’t been an issue for me.
No AC. Sorry, the previous owner took out the compressor. Everything else is still in place though.

The Ugly:

If the car sits for too long (more than a week), it will have trouble starting. I haven’t figured out if this is a battery or alternator problem, but as long as you start it up and rev it once a week or so, it will start every time.

Anyhow, let me know any questions you might have or if you’d like to take it for a drive. I’m located in Durham, near University and Hope Valley Rd. The only reason I’m selling it is because I want to get a motorcycle and already have a daily driver car. Thanks for looking.
