I'm listing my 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse. It has lots of aftermarket parts and is super fun to drive I just dont have as much time to enjoy it anymore. I own a truck as my daily driver so this "toy" doesn't get much play and is basically just taking up room in my driveway so it's time to move on. It's a 5-speed manual. Power windows power sunroof. There's about 160 000 on body and the engine and tranny were rebuilt around 110 000 so around 50 000 on those.

Amp and sub
- don't know details on these a friend gave em to me so I could gauge what size sub and how much power I wanted and they actually sounded good so I just kept using em. I know the sub is a Sony XPlod I BELIEVE it's a 10". Honestly given the interior shape of this car a 10" is perfectly fine. Though I listen to mostly punk rock and rock so bass for me is more of a compliment to the rest of the music I'm not looking for "earthquake" booming bass though this setup CAN get loud bass. Also everything is already wired so upgrading amp/sub is a simple as just connecting the new ones.
Recent Work Done:
New Flex Pipe for exhaust
New rear tires
New Water Pump
New Thermostat
New Timing Belt and timing belt tension arm
New Windshield wipers (lol)
Known issues/problems:
The battery is on its last life. I had my mechanic check it because it wasn't holding a charge. He said its not dead but it is dying. This was back in the beginning of summer and it hasn't been driven since August so it's probably ready for a battery now. When I was still driving the car as my daily driver I'd have to jump it in the AM if it was cold the night before or of I didn't drive it for a few days.
The passenger-side headlight has a HUGE crack in the clear protective plastic lense. This has been like that since I bought the car and WAS never a problem until the "hurricane" we had in the summer when my garbage can blew into it pushing the plastic in a tiny bit so now there is some water in the headlight enclosure. It still works but it should be replaced eventually.
There is a spot of paint above the rear passenger wheel that is "weird". I can only describe it as a "peel" but it's not really if that makes sense. You can't see any body the paint is still there it's just "cracked" along the top of the small section (maybe the size of a gas cap door). This has been there since I bought the car about a year and a half ago and has not gotten any worse since through heavy snow/freezing rain hurricane wind etc so it's not a major issue.
The door handles are wacky. You can't lock them because then the key doesn't unlock them for some reason. Found this out the hard way right after I bought the car. I had to climb through the trunk to unlock it one day because they key didn't do it. And passenger handle doesn't work at all gotta open from the inside. I actually spent a little bit looking for 2 replacement handles when I bought the car but didn't have any luck at local junkyards (though I am on Aquidneck Island options are limited) however they are all over eBay/the Internet plus I'm sure a better search of more junkyards would find them easily. I honestly just never bothered to do it since there isn't much crime here so no reason to lock the doors so it didn't seem important and then I stopped driving it when I got my truck.
The interior is in fair/good shape. The upholstery is a beige color and shows a bit of age. Its a 14yr old car its to be expected that the interior shows signs of wear. There aren't any tears or anything that I'm aware of but the seats especially front driver's side show signs of age. Also the head liner is started to fall down a bit just up front by the windshield. Easily remedied with the spray adhesive from NAPA/AutoZone. Again little stuff I meant to do but then I picked up the trick and pretty much forgot about it all til right now when I decided to put it up for sale.
And now the only known "mechanical" issue. The last few times I drove it (over the summer probably mod-August) there was a rhythmic vibration when braking seemingly from the front passenger side. Almost felt like thre was either a flat spot or raised spot on the brake because the vibration or "knock" was directly related to speed. Not really noticeable when braking while going real slow (like in a driveway) but when coming to stop signs/lights at normal driving speed it was noticeable and te faster you are trying to slow from the faster the noise happens (and slows as the car speed slows). It could need new pads or it could just be the "dust cover" that knocked loose according to my mechanic because it doesn't happen every single time. But as stated a few times already I haven't driven the car in forever and since the battery needs a jump before driving it I haven't just brought it to my mechanic to check out what it officially is. If there is any serious interest in the car I could definately schedule an appointment with my mechanic to bring it in and take a look even give an estimate if it's something besides the dust cover that way you'd know what your up against.
Other than that the car has driven excellent for me. This is a SUPER fun car it kind of pains me to get rid of it but it's just not practical to keep a car I drive a handful of times a year it just takes up room in the driveway and money on my insurance. I work full time and use my truck for daily transport and errands and such so really this has been relegated to maybe taking it out for a cruise on weekends in the summer. This WAS my daily driver before the truck though and it was fine. This thing handles AWESOME being lowered and having the strut braces has this thing hugging corners and sticking to the road.
Now on to the numbers. I'm asking $2 800. I'm willing to consider "best offers" but only fair and reasonable offers. Please don't lowball as I don't NEED to sell the car so I'd like to get a fair price. I'm not trying to dump it for quick cash where I'd be willing to take an offer for much lower than my asking price. I think $2 800 is more than fair given the condition and all of the aftermarket stuff and the recent mechanic work that has been done (for example the new water pump/timing belt job alone was close to $500 the two rear tires were another $250 that's $750 in extras right there done less than a year ago). Plus it has a valid RI inspecting good through July 2012.
I'm ALSO willing to talk trades for a motorcycle. Be it an even trade or the car for a bike and some cash. I'm looking for a 2000 or newer sport bike. Preferably a Suzuki GSX-R 600-750 but will also look at a Honda CBR Yamaha R1 Kawasaki Ninja etc. I'm looking at the 600-750cc range I don't need a "big" 1 000+cc bike. I'm ONLY interested in sport bikes I don't have any interest and will not accept offers for dirtbikes Harleys or other cruiser-type bikes. It also Needs to be in full working condition I'm not looking for a project don't have the time to put into it. I'm just wary of getting rid of my "fun vehicle" in the Eclipse so replacing it with a bike is an idea I've been mulling. I would ride the bike much more in the summer than I drive the car now so that's a trade I'm willing to entertain as the $ from the car sale will be put towards a bike for the summer anyway. Please have pictures of the bike along with details (like its history condition work that has been done any known issues etc). basically have as much info as you can like I have done with this car listing so that I fully know what I'm up against.
I'm am away from home for work right now but I can take pictures and send them as soon as I get home in a few days. Feel free to ask for pictures of any specific details you may want to see (the headlight crack paint spot etc) and I will take them and email them ASAP.
Thanks for your interest please email with any questions picture requests or offers.
