I'm selling my beloved 1972 Datsun 240Z. I've spent many years working on this car and I will miss it but its time for it to find a new home. This Z is BEAUTIFUL. If you're looking for a show car this isn't it. If you're looking for a stock car that hasn't been touched since the day it came off the factory floor this isn't it. BUT if you are looking for a stunning 95% rebuild 1972 Datsun 240Z that will turn heads and start conversation were every you go as well as being an AWESOME car to drive THIS IS THE CAR FOR YOU!

I bought this car from a guy who kept it in a dirt lot and it wasn't even in the California DVM. It looked like someone had taken a hammer to every single body panel and pored a 50 lb. bag of dirt over the interior. I striped it down to the bare metal I gutted the interior I took out the engine trans and suspension and then. . . I started building. Panel by panel I removed all the dents. Got rid of the rust and repaired or replaced broken parts. The engine has been rebuilt the transmission replace shocks bushings lights steering wheel windshield weather striping rims brakes fan seats carpet headliner plastic trim door handles shaved and re-chromed bumpers custom pain (you'll either love it or you'll hate it but it's a modern Z color A-17) Dash board gauges tail lights stereo and I'm sure many more things that I cant remember off the top of my head.

Engine:
This is a F54 block with a P90 head. That's right it's an L28 engine (that's the 2.8 liter engine instead of the 2.4 that it came with. I pulled the motor from a junk yard 280ZX and rebuilt it. The rotating assembly has been professionally balanced. That means that the crank connecting rods pistons rings and flywheel were put together and made to be perfectly balanced. I had the block hot tanked and magnafluxed decked and overbored 20 thousands of an inch. Everything in the engine got new barring's and rings and flat top pistons. This short block is awesome! It'll probably go 500K if you take care of it. It has a new oil pump and timing set. The P90 head has been rebuilt. I bought it with the intention of building a turbo motor (that's why the short block is so awesome). The cam was resurfaced and so were the Nissan rocker arms. The head was hot tanked and pressure tested for weaknesses in the aluminum. There was some corrosion but it was professionally welded and re-surfaced. The valve guides were checked and made sure to be within spec as well as new valve stem seals. The valves were given a three angle valve job and new stainless steel seats. This head is tight and ready to be turbo'd. The ignition is electronic. NO POINTS. The exhaust is a 6 into 2 into 1 header that dumps into a 2.5 inch aluminized pipes with a high flow muffler. The alternator is internally regulated and it's the higher 60amp kind. Fuel delivery is controlled with stock duel SU carburetors with a K&N filter. They work great. I took them apart cleaned everything and rebuilt them. The radiator is a 3 row and it cools great. The thermostat is 180 degree and it pops on no problem. It has a new high torque starter motor that turns a magnafluxed resurfaced flywheel. The clutch has a new pressure plate and the clutch disc is about 7 years old With no slippage. The transmission is a 5 speed with new seals. It shifts tight and all bushings and mounts were replaced.


Extra stuff. I have a 4 piston Toyota break caliper upgrade. Larger master cylinder Honda fan upgrade 6 spoke mage z rims. The paint is PPG (the best in the business) I have lots of extra parts for this car. I have an N42 intake manifold for fuel injection. Six 440cc Supra fuel injectors that have been cleaned and tested. A 240SX throttle body. A complete Ford EDIS ignition system with a Chrysler 6 cylinder coil pack. I have a rebuilt 300zx t3 turbo and a 280ZX turbo exhaust manifold. I have original 240z seats with new covers (I didn't like them so I put in miata seats) For a few hundred dollars invested in a megasquirt engine management system and intercooler you'll have your self a 300 RWHP 240ZX.

Now lets talk about the not so good stuff on my Z. There is a rather large "crack" in the hood from where a door fell on it (a painful day in my life). The alignment is off a little. I think this engine would really come alive if it were fuel injected. There's nothing wrong with the engine it purrs like a kitten but I feel the SU's just don't bring out the potential of the 2.8 liter engine. There seems to be a new problem in the rear end. I don't know what it is but can be fixed I just don't have the time to put into it. Other than those few things. . . Its perfect.

  4cyl 5 speed new starter plugs wires thermostat k&n air filter truck has a very nice sound it runs great and very strong i use it to go to school and back
