This is a 2000 king cab Nissan Frontier with 165 000 miles on it. This truck is in good shape except that it needs major engine repair.
Our mechanic has diagnosed it as some type of engine failure that will require removing the engine taking it apart fixing the issue and re-installing it. There is no compression wet or dry. When we pulled one of the spark plugs and I tried turning over the engine the cylinder with no spark plug ignited indicating some type of breach between the two cylinders. The camshaft and crankshaft turn fine and the drive chain is in good shape.
Please note the ARB bumper on the front. It's about 4 years old and in great shape and runs about $1300 new. It should work for any other 2000 or similar year Nissan Frontier. Very tough built well looks good and makes the other car be the crumple zone...
Full history & data:
-Automatic transmission
-4 cylinder engine
-2 previous owners 1 of whom only owned it for about 3 months before selling it to me
-Includes original jack/hardware
-Includes a wooden equipment carrying setup that I installed (drop in) behind the seats. 4 square-ish compartments (16-18" deep) with lids covered by outdoor carpet plus a 5th narrow one by the back window that runs the width of the truck and is lined with foam.
-ARB front bumper as noted
-Maintenance records & receipts - present from 105k on and I have some of the records from the previous owner
-Oil changed regularly @ 3000 miles (typically Pennzoil 10W-30 with some STP oil treatment added)
-Transmission fluid & filter changed within last 2 years
-Windshield replaced within last 6 years and is in very good shape
-Rear view mirror just re-adhesed to windshield within past month
-One accident - minor fender bender... that's when the ARB was installed instead of another typical flimsy bumper
-Tires are in good shape; two of them are less than 6 months old
-Shocks probably need replacing...you can DIY all 4 in less than 2 hours with basic hand tools
-Has some hail damage
-Dent on right side cab extension panel (behind door) from a concrete pillar in a parking garage (3 months after I got the truck in 2007)
-Has plastic rain/sun guards over both driver & passenger windows but they both have sustained significant damage (cracks holes) from hail
-Belts in good shape
-Water pump & cooling lines replaced within last 2 years to fix a minor coolant leak
-Alloy wheels
-Wired to tow a standard trailer; 2" ball
-Current inspection & registration
-Bed liner is present. There is some rust visible around the edges where the liner has rubbed against the truck or held moisture. Also en edge near the tailgate that has been bent out some.
-Sliding rear window
-Manual locks & windows - no power items that break!
-Clock is fine but the radio does not work reliably. I never tested the cassette tape player.
-Interior needs to be vacuumed a bit (was not expecting engine to need such major work)
-One owner might have had a smoker ride with him part of the time (a few burn marks in seats). I used a lot of Febreze after I got the truck so there is no odor.
-Battery is less than 4 months old (10/20/11) and I still have the receipt from Wal-Mart (2-3 year warranty)
Asking $3 000 but we are willing to consider other offers (no trades) although considering such offers may take a few days.
