1984 GLi 233,xxx on the clock or so just swaped in a known running solid lifter JH? engine with a new clutch and then it sat. Should still run but over the winter a freeze plug got pushed out the back and I havent got a chance to inspect to make sure everything is kosher. It has some rust, it has lived in northeast Ohio its entire life. Still looks good and the paint comes back with a good cleaning and waxing. Needs some time and love and It could be on the road in a jiffy. Ill start it off at 600.00 obo to try and recoup the cost of the tune up clutch, oil, filter, plugs, wires?, ect. This car is really cute and runs great! I love it. I have to sell it because I'm having a baby and need something bigger right away! It's a great first car. It has 170,000 miles, but it runs very well. There is a problem that makes it slow to start on cold mornings but I've been assured it's no major problem. The check engine light is on because it needs a CAM sensor and and O2 sensor but I have also been assured that neither of those things cause major running problems. For Sale is my mk3 97 Volkswagen Jetta GL 2.0L. The car runs and drives great. It has new spark plugs, wires, and coil. I need to preface this ad with a message. This is not a showroom perfect car. It is a 25 year old beater than will run and run. It is ugly, loud, smelly and slow. It is reliable gas saving transportation. I can't tell you what will break next, I can only tell you what I notice and what my mechanic has told me. Price is 1200 OBO.

According to the previous owner he was 3rd owner, his father was the second, and they bought it from an elderly couple.
His list of parts within the last year or two:
shifter bushings
clutch
water pump
belts
alternator
rebuilt injector pump (can easily cost 2k new, rebuild is usually 1k)
head gasket and top end refresh
exhaust

Now for the bad:
Main issues
suspension -the suspension is shot, it still drives but is a bit all over the place. I have a good used replacement, but they need installed, could be included/installed for the right price
tires -they will last through the summer, but come fall will need done

Minor issues
rust - there is a hole in the back passenger floorboard, around the windsheild, fenders and rust in various other places, it is still holding structurally so I haven't dealt with it
ugly - take it or leave it, I saw no point in painting an old beater
leaks - leaks about 1 quart of oil every 3-4 weeks, I just keep an eye on it and park it on grass when possible
high miles - it has all the main components looked over or rebuilt, and I have personally seen a 500,000 mile all original diesel that was an 87.
shifter - only half the shifter was rebuilt, so 5th and first can be hard to find sometimes, but you can still get them with a little trick. I can teach you this trick, and then you don't *need* to fix it.
the trunk has a musty smell to it, and it may be getting water in it. I have never seen any.
parking brake doesn't work. I have the part but no time to install it.


I bought this car back in April as I was driving delivery, but have since changed jobs and no longer need 2 cars. It has a number of problems, but for the most part they do not effect the drive-ability of the car. As you can see in the pictures the grill, front driver side fender and hood have been replaced by the previous owner. His dad hit something and he hammered it back into place and threw on replacement panels. Car drives straight, starts up every time, and runs like a champ getting 40 mpg city and 50-52 on the highway. The suspension is bad, and somewhat difficult to drive as is. Despite all the problems, I drive this car everywhere. I drive it to my parents on the east side every weekend, down to see friends in columbus. I wouldn't do a cross country road trip without fixing some things, but it would not take much to get there. This would be a perfect second car for work or whatever if you have a vehicle that gets poor mpgs. You can reply to this posting or call/text 440-533-9230 and come take a look at it.

We are finally going to sell our 2000 Volkswagen Eurovan with 2.8L VR6 and sunroof. We are the original owners and have taken great care of it. We have always taken it to the VW dealer for service. You will be very hard pressed to find one in this nice of a condition for the price of $7000 (just reduced from $8500).

Our van has 166K miles on it (about 16K a year) and it needs nothing. It has never been in an accident. Almost everything, including the engine, transmission, paint and interior, is original. We only have changed regular service parts and one rim (which was replaced with a new one from the dealership). We have all of the service records from day one. We special ordered the van to get the color combination and interior setup. There are no fault codes present. All systems work except for the remote locks (they work fine manually).

There is only one small spot of rust by the drivers front fender. There is a picture of this in the album. There are also two small dings, one in the rear bumper and the other in the rear quarter. The van spend a lot of time in nice climates. We've only been in Ohio for less than 2 years

Within the last year we had plugs, wires, tires, and water pump changed. It still gets 20 MPG on trips with our family of 4 and luggage.

The interior is gray with no rips, tears or stains. We’ve always had mats installed since day one. The van has climate control and rear air. The AM/FM cassette works and there is a 6 CD changer mounted under the drivers seat. This van has 4 captains chairs which worked great for our two kids and a bench in the back. The van seats 7.

I have a bra for the front, and a two bar roof rack system from the dealership as accessories. I installed a class III hitch with light connection and electronic breaking unit. In the pictures and link, you will see that I have two tool boxes under the rear seat that go with the van. The total combined weight rating is 10,000 lbs with a maximum braked trailer weight of 4500 lbs.

We’ve had the van all around the USA. One time we took it for a two week, 5500 mile loop around the United States. Last weekend we drove it 800 miles round trip to Annapolis, MD.
